Answers to common questions

In the meantime, here are answers to questions lots of new Christians ask.

Do I have to be good enough to be saved?

No! Nobody can be good enough. Being saved is a free gift from God. We receive it by trusting in Jesus, not by earning it.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Ephesians 2:8 NLT
What if I still mess up after becoming a Christian?

Every Christian still makes mistakes. When you do, tell God, say you're sorry, and ask Him to help you do better. He promises to forgive you.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
1 John 1:9 NLT
How do I pray?

Prayer is just talking to God. You can pray out loud or quietly, anytime and anywhere. Thank Him, tell Him what you need, and pray for other people. Jesus taught His friends a prayer you can use as an example in Matthew 6:9-13 (the Lord's Prayer).

What if I have doubts?

Having questions and doubts is normal, even for people who have followed Jesus a long time. Keep reading the Bible, keep praying, and talk with a pastor or Christian friend. A dad in the Bible once said this to Jesus, and Jesus helped him:

The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
Mark 9:24 NLT
Do I need to be baptized?

Jesus told His followers to be baptized. Baptism is a way to show everyone that you belong to Jesus and have a new life in Him. Talk to a pastor at a Bible-believing church about being baptized.

Where should I start reading the Bible?

The book of John is a great place to start because it tells the story of Jesus. After that, try Mark, Psalms, and Romans. Open the Bible here.

If you would like an immediate answer… please pray!

God hears you right now, and He loves to answer when we ask Him for wisdom.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
James 1:5 NLT
